UPDATE: Man Killed by Metra Train Tuesday Identified

Deceased is a 34-year-old Schaumburg man.

The pedestrian struck and killed by a Metra train on Tuesday night, Oct. 29, has been identified.

George P. Nuyttens Jr., 34, of Schaumburg, was struck near Touhy Avenue at about 5:10 p.m. The Park Ridge Police department is conducting a death investigation into the incident.

A pedestrian died Tuesday after being struck by a Metra train,about halfway between the Park Ridge and Dee Road stations on the Union Pacific Northwest line, chicago.cbslocal.com reported.

Patch.com had earlier reported both inbound and outbound trains were halted at or around the Dee Road station, which is at Oakton Street, Dee Road and Busse Highway in northern Park Ridge, due to a pedestrian incident.

Metra trains on the Union Pacific/Northwest Line are delayed due to a pedestrian incident on the approach to its Dee Road station in Park Ridge, Metra has posted on its home page. 

Both inbound and outbound trains are delayed. Based on Metra's posting, the incident appears to have occurred about 5:12 p.m., and the agency is predicting delays of 60 to 90 minutes. 

The following trains are affected, according to Metra. Where "arrives at" times are given, that means the scheduled time, not factoring in the delay.

Outbound: Train #633 arrives Barrington 5:54pm; #635 arrives Crystal Lake 6:10pm; #637 arrives Crystal Lake 6:30pm; #639 arrives Barrington 6:17pm; #641 arrives Harvard 6:46pm; #643 arrives McHenry 6:50pm; #645 arrives Barington 6:36pm; #647 arrives Harvard 7:19pm.

Inbound: Train #652 arrives Chicago 5:38pm and #654 arrives Chicago 6:23pm. (Posted by Metra:10/29/2013 05:29 PM).
