UPDATE: Tornado Watch in Effect for McHenry County

A tornado watch is in effect for much of north central and northeast Illinois through 1 a.m.

Update 8:30 p.m.: A tornado watch is in effect for McHenry County and much of the area through 1 a.m, according to the National Weather Service in Chicago

Temperatures are expected to near 90 degrees today but severe weather could enter the area later in the evening and tonight.

As of 6 a.m., it was 64 degrees in Lake in the Hills and temperatures could reach as high as 87 degrees, according to the National Weather Service in Chicago. It is expected to be sunny but windy, with gusts as high as 40 miles per hour.

A hazardous outlook is in effect for north central and northeast Illinois and northwest Indiana.

The possibility of tornadoes, strong thunderstorms, damaging wind in excess of 60 mph, hail, heavy downpours and cloud-to-ground lightning is predicted for later in the evening and night, according to the National Weather Service.
