Frost Advisory in Effect Early Monday

A look at the weather forecast for this week for Algonquin and Lake in the Hills.

The week will get off to a cold start. 

A frost advisory is in effect for McHenry and Kane counties from 3 to 8 a.m. Monday, according to the National Weather Service. Temperatures will reach the low- to mid-30s.

A frost advisory means that frost is possible and sensitive outdoor plants may be killed if left uncovered, according to the NWS. 

Here is a look at the weather forecast for Algonquin for the rest of the week: 

  • Monday: Patchy frost before 8 a.m. The rest of the day is mostly sunny with a high near 61. 
  • Tuesday: A chance of showers and thunderstorms then showers likely and possibly a thunderstorm after 1 p.m. Mostly cloudy, with a high near 65. The chance of precipitation is 60 percent. 
  • Wednesday: A 30 percent chance of showers. Mostly cloudy skies with a high near 55.
  • Thursday: Mostly sunny with a high near 58.
  • Friday: A slight chance of showers. Mostly sunny with a high near 57.
  • Saturday: A slight chance of showers. Mostly sunny with a high near 51.
