Ford School Relocation Could Cause Traffic Delays

Delays are expected along Algonquin Road between Hanson and Randall roads.

It's not everyday that the relocation of a century-old schoolhouse is the reason why you are stuck in traffic.

But today might just be that day.

Ford School, a 125-year-old schoolhouse, will be moved from its current location in Algonquin, near 2001 W. Algonquin Road, to its original location in Lake in the Hills at Ford School Park, 302 Ramble Road.

The move marks over a year of work by the Lake in the Hills Historical Society, and in particular, Arden and Bob Spooner, who have raised funds and solicited village board approval to make the relocation happen.

The process of moving the school is expected to start at 10 a.m. and could take up to two hours, according to a village of Algonquin community alert. The relocation is expected to cause some traffic delays on Algonquin Road between Randall Road and Hanson Road.
