Flood Advisory Issued for Fox River in Algonquin

The National Weather Service reports that melting snow and rain has contributed to the rise in the river.

A flood advisory is in effect for the Fox River in Algonquin for both Kane and McHenry counties, according to the National Weather Service. 

Heavy rains and melting snow have caused the Fox River to rise, according to the NWS advisory. The NWS warns that anyone who sees a flooded road should turn around and find an alternate route. 

At 9:30 a.m. Thursday, the river was at 8.9 feet. The flood stage is 9.5 feet.
