Saturday: Algonquin 'Harvest Hustle' and 'Fall Harvest Day'

Are you ready for some fall fun? Annual Harvest Hustle and Fall Harvest Day are this Saturday in Algonquin.

Algonquin's "Harvest Hustle" and "Fall Harvest Day" are scheduled for this Saturday, Oct. 12. 

The Harvest Hustle is a family-oriented event aimed at getting the whole gang out of the house for some fun and exercise. Check out this time-lapsed video of this year's Harvest Hustle course. 

For more information about the walk and to register, visit the village website at www.algonquin.org/recreation. Registration is open at 7:30 a.m. Saturday, too. Plus, watch the attached video to see this year's Harvest Hustle route. 

The 8 a.m. walk is followed by the Fall Harvest Day celebration at Cornish Park (along the Fox River near the Clock Tower in downtown Algonquin). Details about the day's festivities are being finalized. 

The current schedule of events includes the following:

  • 8:00 a.m.: Event Begins
  • 8:00 a.m.: Harvest Hustle 5K Walk
  • 10:00 a.m.: Old Town Algonquin Historic Walk
  • 10:00 a.m. - 12:00 p.m.: Pumpkin Carver Demonstration
  • 11:00 a.m. - 1:00 p.m.: Live music from HairDaze
  • 12:00 p.m.: Rebecca McCarthy School of Dance Irish Dancers
  • 1:00 p.m.: Halloween Costume Parade
  • 3:00 p.m.: Event Ends 

The Harvest Hustle registration fee is $15 for participants over 15 years old, and $7 for participants age 6 to 14.  Participants 5 and under are free!

The walk benefits "Recreation for ALL-gonquin," a scholarship program designed to provide opportunity for Algonquin youth to participate in recreation.
