Library Renovation Brings Short-Term Closing

An upcoming phase of the Algonquin Area Public Library’s lobby renovation project will temporarily close the Harnish Main Library Tuesday, September 3 through Thursday, September 5. With the inclusion of the holiday weekend, the main facility will be closed beginning Sunday, September 1.

The safety of patrons entering and exiting the building necessitates this short-term closing. Construction crews will be renovating the doorway area, and offsetting the exterior and interior sets of doors to minimize a wind-tunnel effect created by the current layout.

Due to the holiday and renovation-related closings, the closed dates of September 1 through September 5, 2013 will be waived when calculating overdue fines.

The Eastgate Branch will remain open and fully operational  -- with the exception of 9am until 1pm, September 3 due to staff training. The community is encouraged to enjoy the new layout, expanded seating areas and quiet study rooms available at our branch facility.

Lobby renovations at AAPLD’s main facility are scheduled for completion by late September. The repurposing project will include a vending café, comfortable seating and express check-outs.
