Enliven yourself during the Dog Days of summer by learning something new like West African drumming. McHenry County College’s Continuing Education Department is offering a class in this unique drumming style from 7-9 p.m. on July 18 in Room A241 at the College, located at 8900 U.S. Hwy. 14 in Crystal Lake.

Music and culture combine as participants learn techniques and rhythms of the West African Drum Orchestra and will have fun creating upbeat music in community together. No experience is necessary. The instructor will bring drums for the students to play during class, including Djembe and Dunun drums from Guinea, West Africa.

Cost is $30. Use course ID: NMN S16 007 when registering. To register, call the MCC Registration Office at (815) 455-8588.  For more information, call Tracy Berry at (815) 455-8758 or Claudia Terrones at (815) 455-8782.
