Does anyone know of any upcoming volunteer opportunities?

Hello Fellow Patch Readers! 

I believe that it is important to not just be thankful for our blessings during the holidays, (and always!) but to also share those blessings with others. I have been trying to find some opportunities to help out this Holiday Season and time has gotten away from me! I am not originally from this area, so I don't quite have a good sense of all of the local charitable organizations. I searched through this site, but was unable to find any posts about events that could use volunteers. I have also searched on sites such as volunteer match.org. However, most of the opportunities on there are for long term assignments (which I also believe in and I am hoping to work with as well). I know that there MUST be something going on in the area that could use some extra helping hands! If anyone knows of anything like this, could you please let me know? Also, does anyone have a recommendation for new toy donations this close to Christmas? I purchased several toys for Toys for Tots, but due to traveling, I missed the collection dates.
