Waiting Wednesday: 30 MEN in 30 DAYS

For this weeks Waiting Wednesday as part of our 30 MEN in 30 DAYS Campaign read about four boys waiting in Marengo - two of who have been waiting over 600 days!

For this weeks Waiting Wednesday as part of our 30 MEN in 30 DAYS Campaign read about four boys waiting in Marengo:

MARENGO - Thomas, Jeremy, Kenny, Dylan
(names have been changed)

Thomas and Jeremy are two very special boys from Marengo. They have been on our waiting list the longest of all of our waiting children. Thomas has been waiting over 600 days for us to find him the right Big Brother. Jeremy has been waiting over 500 days for his Big Brother. It is very challenging for us to find volunteers in Marengo, or those willing to travel to Marengo due to its geographic location.

Thomas – waiting over 600 days
Thomas is 12 years old and has never met his father. He has had a very difficult upbringing that has affected him greatly. He lacks any consistent positive adult role models in his life.

Thomas is very friendly, but struggles socially and tends to struggle in school. He needs a special Big Brother who is caring, patient, and most importantly consistent.

Some of the things Thomas would enjoy are Lazer Tag, Medieval Times, video games, riding bikes, and soccer. He would be very excited to try new activities with his Big Brother.

Jeremy – waiting over 500 days
Ten year old Jeremy from Marengo is eager for attention. He not only lacks a positive male role model, but also lacks self-confidence. Jeremy could benefit greatly from a Big Brother who could help him believe in himself.

Jeremy does not need a very active Big Brother, but simply someone who is willing to give him their time and attention. He likes playing his video games, going to the movies, and playing outside at the park.

Kenny – waiting almost 10 months
Twelve year old Kenny from Marengo enjoys playing video games, swimming, fishing, WWE, and riding his bike. He think’s having a Big Brother would be really fun!

Kenny wants a big brother who is generous, adventurous, and nice. He also thinks it would be really cool to have a water gun fight with his future Big Brother.

Kenny is very well mannered and very talkative. Kenny’s mother feels he could benefit from quality time spent with a positive adult role model. She believes a Big Brother would help improve Kenny’s self-confidence and hopefully his maturity level.

Dylan  - only waiting for a few weeks
Little Brother Dylan is 8 years old and lives in Marengo with his mother and sisters. His mother is paraplegic and his father died suddenly from a heart attack when he was four years old.

Dylan’s mother describes him as imaginative, outgoing, and sensitive. Dylan would like a Big Brother who could go hiking, biking, or play Legos with him. He would love to go to the Wild West Museum or the Train Museum, but is open to anything.

Dylan says that since he is the only boy in his family he would like to have another guy around! He has only been waiting for a few weeks, but we hope to find him a Big Brother soon!
