Swing for Kids’ Sake in Lake in the Hills

The 10th annual Swing for Kids' Sake to benefit Big Brothers Big Sisters of McHenry County was held at Boulder Ridge Country Club in Lake in the Hills.

The 10th Annual Swing for Kids’ Sake to benefit Big Brothers Big Sisters of McHenry County was a BIG success.  The sold out event was held on Monday, July 30 at Boulder Ridge Country Club.

Gary Rosenberg and Jack Cook started the event in 2003 and have been chairing it ever since.

“We have been so lucky to have the support of the community and our friends for this golf outing. It’s hard to believe that 10 years have gone by since we hosted our first outing for Big Brothers Big Sisters,” say Rosenberg and Cook.

“We are honored to think that we have helped to raise almost $400,000 over those 10 years, and we have helped to improve the lives of thousands of children,” Cook added.

For the 10th year, Crystal Lake Chrysler Jeep Dodge Ram was the Presenting Sponsor. BMO Harris, Market Financial Group and PantherVision also were generous supporters of the event. Althoff Industries, Home State Bank and The Domek Group were all sponsors of activities in the outing. More than 27 other local businesses were Tee Box Sponsors on the course.

Some of the highlights of the day include lunch donated by Lou Malnati’s Pizzeria, dinner donated by Bonefish Grill and a silent auction. Items that were auctioned off included tickets to a Chicago Bulls game, Grizzy Jack’s Grand Bear Resort cabin, Tullymore Golf Stay & Play package and a foursome at Boulder Ridge Country Club.

Several “Littles” also were part of the day, working a lemonade stand a working as bag boys. It was a good opportunity for “Littles” and “Bigs” to say thank you to the people who make the program possible.

Robyn Ostrem, executive director of Big Brothers Big Sisters of McHenry County, said, “We are so lucky that more than 200 people joined in our outing. Fundraisers such as this make it possible for us to continue and grow our work of improving lives through one-on-one mentoring.”
