Jacobs Students Writing, Directing, Producing Film at Algonquin Library

Wanted: Experienced Actors. Auditions available on select days between June 26 - July 7 for the part of "Ben" in an independent film production of Marie Antoinette Discovers Plaid.

Six H.D. Jacobs High School students and graduates chose the Algonquin Area Public Library as the setting for an independent film project, titled Marie Antoinette Discovers Plaid

Kelly Morton has written the screenplay and will direct fellow Drama Club Board members Michael Banwart, Tom Barrett, Kaitlin Majeski, Rachel Kaplow and Lisa Gerlach.

These artistic and creative students, under the leadership of their teacher, Mr. Glynn, will be spending their summer in the Library and other sites filming the movie. Acting and producing a full length love story that begins in the Library requires a cast and extras.

Have you seen these movies? Desk Set, The Music Man, The Breakfast Club, With Honors and National Treasure. These are just a few of the many famous movies with scenes set in libraries. We are delighted to be included in the list of libraries used by filmmakers by providing a place, books on shelves and a cool setting like Jimmy Buffett sings, “Surrounded by stories, surreal and sublime, I fell in love in the library, once upon a time.”
