Algonquin Library and CUSD 300 Collaborate to Provide High Speed Network Access

Saving taxpayer money is a top priority.

The Algonquin Area Public Library District and Community Unit School District 300 are pleased to announce a joint agreement to bring high speed network access to Library customers at both the Harnish and Eastgate locations. Discussions between administrators and technology staff of the two organizations led to a successful intergovernmental agreement that allows the Library to connect the Harnish location to Jacobs High School and the Eastgate location to connect to Algonquin Middle School. Communications between the two library locations will use a portion of the bandwidth that connects the two schools.

Under terms of the agreement, CUSD 300 will install the fiber optic cable necessary to connect the Library to the network.  The Library will reimburse CUSD 300 for expenditures related to the installation of the fiber optic cable and connection to its Network.

Library users can expect to experience increased internet speeds at the Eastgate Branch location to match the speed of internet access at the main Harnish location.  In addition, any shared network resources will be more easily accessible at Eastgate.
