Algonquin Author, Lauren Aggen, Visits Her Home Library, Former Employer

Local author, started as a page at the Algonquin Public Library!

and her family have been life long users of the and are all familiar faces to both Youth and Adult Services.

Staff here love getting to know our patrons and have always enjoyed following Lauren's activities since she was born. She was an inspirational team member on the bowling team, and continued that tradition when she worked here as a page, shelving books, in 2007!

Page Supervisor, Lauren Schoenherr, said, "She was a fantastic employee! She was reliable, accurate and always had a smile for everyone she met! Even when she was sick and was told not to work, she would come in and organize book carts!"

We were delighted when Lauren came back to the library this summer to visit and see if , had arrived on our shelves.

She was very excited to see it cataloged and available in both the Youth and Adult collections. She told us about her college experiences, recent book talks in the community,  then personally autographed our copy and posed for a picture.

We like to think that her love of books started with all those trips to the library, receiving help from the librarians and then generously giving back as an employee and now, an author.

If you would like to read her book, Austin's Gift, come check it out at the Algonquin Public Library!
