AAPLD Progresses into 2013 by Updating Current Services

THANKFUL IN 2012: Algonquin Area Public Library is Thankful for a Great Year and Progresses into 2013 by Updating Current Services

2012 has been a great year for the Algonquin Area Public Library District.  To recognize this year, the Library has filled their November-December Newsletter with items they are thankful for.  Included in the list are:  Wi-Fi in the Library, book discussion groups, their Summer Reading Program, access to photocopiers, and Early Literacy programs at the Library.

The Algonquin Area Public Library will enter 2013 refreshing the current services they are appreciative to have.   A new printing system and photocopy machines have been installed and will be launched to the public in November, 2012.  The new machines will provide black and white, as well as color, copies to the public with a high quality print.

Patrons should also stay tuned to Algonquin Public Library’s Early Literacy programs.  Upcoming Early Literacy programs are Nursery Rhyme Time and Little ExplorersNursery Rhyme Time is a special drop-in program on November 24 at 10 am for children 3 months to 3 years old with a parent or caregiver.  Participants will join in teaching their child language and literacy skills by sharing stories, fingerplays and songs.  Likewise, on November 10 and December 8 at 10 am, children ages 2 to 5 years old with a parent or caregiver are invited to come hear stories and participate in a hand –on project that introduces early literacy concepts at Little Explorers.

In January, 2013, the Library invites its patrons to grab onto their flying carpet and get ready for the trip of a lifetime with 1001 Books Before Kindergarten.  The 1001 Books Before Kindergarten is a program that will begin the journey to becoming an early reader.  Children, with their families, will make the commitment to read 1001 books before they enter kindergarten and watch the magic of reading take hold in their lives.  Look for more information about this early literacy program at the Library in January.
