Today: First-Ever Storytelling Festival and National Night Out

First Storytelling Festival will be held at Larsen Park in Lake in the Hills.

Happy Tuesday Algonquin and Lake in the Hills!

Enjoy the slight warmup. It should feel a bit more like summer!

Today's Forecast: 84 Degrees, Partly Cloudy
Tonight: 67 Degrees, Chance of isolated thunderstorms

It's a busy day in both towns today. Algonquin Village Board meets at 7:30 p.m. at Village Hall, 2200 Harnish Dr., and Lake in the Hills leaders gather for the Committee of the Whole meeting at 7 p.m. at Village Hall, 600 Harvest Gate.

A very special event today: the first-ever Larsen Park Storytelling Festival!

The Algonquin Area Public Library is joining forces with the LITH Parks and Recreation Department and Algonquin's Recreation Department to present the family-oriented festival from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Larsen Park, 1211 Pyott Rd., Lake in the Hills.

If you go, bring a picnic lunch and enjoy the lineup of professional storytellers, a puppeteer and musical entertainers from the greater Chicagoland area.

Later today, the Lake in the Hills community will participate in the 28th Annual National Night Out, a nationwide program that aims to bring police and residents together to form a partnership and fight for safer neighborhoods.

LITH Police have planned block parties throughout the village, which will be attended by police officers and village officials.
  • Block Parties: Tuesday, August 6th, from 7 to 10 p.m. in various locations
  • Community Cook Out: Saturday, August 10th, from 5 to 7 p.m. at the Safety Education Center, 1109 Crystal Lake Road.

Have a great day- Stephanie Price, Local Editor, Algonquin-Lake in the Hills Patch
