Today: Hot with a Chance for Thunderstorms; Busy Weekend Ahead!

Happy Thursday Algonquin and Lake in the Hills!

Get ready for another summer-like day! The forecast calls for a high of 82 degrees with a chance for thunderstorms.

The good news is that we're one day out from the weekend, and what a busy weekend it promises to be.

For starters, the Algonquin-Lake in the Hills Chamber of Commerce has moved its annual Home & Business Expo to the fall season. The Expo is scheduled for this Saturday at Jacobs High School. More information in this Algonquin-LITH Patch story.

The first-ever Zombie 5K is scheduled for Saturday morning at Three Oaks Recreation Area in Crystal Lake. Run, have fun and raise money for a good cause, The Home of the Sparrow. More on the run in this Patch story.

And for the canine in your family, there's the Dogtober Fest in Huntley on Saturday. Bring your dog, and head out to Diecke Park for this fun four-legged festival. Looking for a furry addition to the family? There will be adoptable dogs at this event. More on Dogtober Fest in this Patch story.

Have a great day!
