Today: Chance for Record Breaking High Temps, Register for Harvest Hustle 5K Walk

Could today be a record-breaker? More heat predicted for Algonquin, Lake in the Hills today.

Greetings Patch readers on this Tuesday, Sept. 10.

It's going to be a hot one - temperatures are expected to climb near 95 degrees, which also happens to be the record-high temperature for the month of September (record set on Sept. 10, 1983) for the Chicago area, according to Accuweather.com.

It won't be long, though, before cooler Fall temperatures prevail. And now's the perfect time to register for the 2013 Harvest Hustle 5K Walk in Algonquin.

The Harvest Hustle is a family-oriented event aimed at getting the whole gang out of the house for some fun and exercise. Check out this time-lapsed video of this year's Harvest Hustle course.

For more information about the walk and registration, visit the village website at www.algonquin.org/recreation.

The 8 a.m. walk is followed by the Fall Harvest Day celebration at Cornish Park (along the Fox River near the Clock Tower in downtown Algonquin). Details about the day's festivities are being finalized.

Stay cool & have a great day! Stephanie Price, Local Editor
