Protect Your Pets People!

Time and time again, I see a pet locked in a car with the windows cracked a bit.

I am totally dismayed as to why a pet owner would do this to their beloved furry friend.

Perhaps the owner thinks “Oh, I’ll just be a minute," but in reality, it turns in to 20 minutes which can ultimately heat the inside of the car up to 50 more degrees.

It is totally irresponsible to leave your pet inside a locked car with the windows cracked.

There are nasty people out there that might want to steal your pet to use as bait for dog fighting. Or perhaps the sicko that wants to use your pet for illegal drug trials.

All in all, let's think before we act, especially with the dog days of summer quickly approaching.

Please be responsible and if YOU see a pet, large or small, locked in a car with a window cracked or not, it is your civil duty to call 911.

Great advice!
Another issue is bringing your dog out to a local farmer's market or art fest, to walk around on the hot asphalt parking lot or a hot crowded sidewalk. Subjecting your dog to these hot, cramped conditions is inhumane. I've seen many owners who do this, and then expect the vendors/artists to provide their dog with water. Your dog does NOT like these conditions. Even if your dog is really gentle and great with people, they can "snap" at the slightest thing when they are irritated.
Your dog is NOT your child, and should be left home when you visit these places, especially on these hot summer days.

Just an FYI to people going to the Buffalo Grove farmers market--dogs are not allowed. It's a violation of village ordinance. I found out the hard way.

So, DO NOT leave your dog in the car while you shop. Leave your dog at home.

And then when they do take their dog, they fail to bring a water dish for them....
