GALLERY: Rowing Championships

Crystal Lake Rowing Club hosted the Greater Chicago Junior Rowing Championships.

The Crystal Lake Rowing Club hosted the Greater Chicago Junior Rowing Championships Saturday. The regatta's purpose is to hold a Chicagoland championship that leads up to the Midwest Junior Rowing Championships and Midwest Scholastic Championships, however out of state programs are welcome as well.

Video: Another Look at 'Homeless in Crystal Lake'

Saturday's SleepOut event will raise funds, awareness for the homeless.

With the McHenry County PADS bringing the third annual SleepOut for Shelter to Crystal Lake this Saturday, we felt that another look at the video of a local homeless man, Steve, was warranted. The video, captured by Robin Pendergrast, shows a brief but strong look at decisions the homeless have to make every day. SleepOut for Shelter will take place this Saturday, May 12, at Immanuel Lutheran School in Crystal Lake. Event participants will spend the night outside in tents, boxes or cars to raise awareness and money. Through the collection of pledges for spending one night outside the comfort of their home, participants will help homeless individuals in their search for shelter and a new beginning. Yes the cartoonist reads the comments and I appreciate all of yours. I cut Quinn some slack because for years he was a prominent advocate for consumes rights before finally scoring an elected position. As for the Blago hair, I took a bit of artistic license there keeping him in Elvis-Black. I also saw the news story about his brown-hair prison look. Run for the Arts This Weekend

The 15th Annual Bob Blazier Run for the Arts takes place Sunday morning.

Put your running shoes on and get out to downtown Crystal Lake to support the arts. Sunday morning hundreds of runners and walkers will fill downtown to participate in the 15th Annual Bob Blazier Run For The Arts. The 5k event will take place Sunday, May 6, at Raue Center For The Arts, 26 N. Williams Street. Runners rate is $35 and registration for walkers is $20. LITH Woman's Scripts Showcased at MCC Performance

"Acting Up: A Performance Jam" will be held at 7:30 p.m. on May 3 and May 4.

Art Show Thursday at Mackeben Elementary School

The school's annual art show will be held from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. Thursday

Student artists in kindergarten through second grade at Mackeben Elementary School invite community members to attend the school’s Annual Art Show on Thursday, April 26 from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. Visitors to the show will get to view the many works of art based on various artists, cultures, and techniques, as well as the elements and principles of art. Each student will have approximately 3 pieces of art on display. Special items on display will include 3D clay art works featuring Native American rattles, clay bowls, and fantastic fanciful fish. Families can participate in creating their own works of art at the Learn to Draw and Piven Portrait tables.
