As Algonquin and Lake in the Hills shoppers headed to the store for Halloween candy in October, they were met with a now-familiar sight: holiday decorations.

Christmas trees, lights, blow-up Menorahs and manger scenes line the aisles already at Home Depot, Target, Walmart and other stores.
