Village of Algonquin Offers Holiday Lights' Recycling Program

Unusable holiday lights can be dropped off at Algonquin Village Hall through Jan. 16.

Have some of your holiday lights seen brighter days?

The village of Algonquin is offering a holiday lights recycling program through Jan. 16. Residents can drop off any old, unusable and unwanted holiday lights off in containers set up at village hall, 2200 Harnish Drive in Algonquin, according to a village of Algonquin press release.

The lights can be dropped off during normal business hours from 8 to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday.

Items that will be accepted include mini-lights, C7 lights, C9 lights, rope lights, LED lights, and extension cords of any length. All tinsel, garland, and other decoration items should be removed from the light before they are dropped off.

Vintage Tech Recyclers will recycle the light sets collected at Village Hall and help Algonquin reduce waste sent to landfills.

Please note that household light bulbs, floodlights, compact fluorescent bulbs (CFLs) or fluorescent bulbs will not be accepted.
