After a week of taking votes from local Patch.com readers, Dante's has been chosen as the best place to get french fries in McHenry County. 

Patch.com readers in McHenry County chose Thirsty Whale and Dante's as finalists in this round of our Chowdown Showdown. 

While both restaurants obviously have a loyal following — we received several positive comments regarding both Thirsty Whale's and Dante's french fries on the Patch.com sites as well as on our Facebook pages — Dante's pulled ahead as the winner after bringing in more votes in our Chowdown poll.

As of 5 p.m. Tuesday, Dante's had 151 votes — 67% percent of the vote total — over Thirsty Whale's 74 votes.
