A 27 year-old Elgin man died in a single-vehicle accident on Route 20 in Coral Township late Thursday, the McHenry County Sheriff’s office said.

Angel Bahena was pronounced dead at the scene around 11:55 p.m.

He was driving a 2010 Ford E-250 van westbound in the 6700 block of Route 20 when the vehicle began leaving the roadway, according to reports. The truck ended up in a ditch, rolled over and hit several trees, sheriff’s deputies said.

The sheriff’s office and Marengo Fire/Rescue responded to the accident.

Bahena was not wearing a seatbelt and the front airbags had deployed, reports stated.

The investigation is ongoing by the McHenry County Sheriff’s Office Accident Investigations Unit and the McHenry County Coroner’s Office.
