Probation Ordered for LITH Man's Role in Infant's Death

Julian Palomo, 41, was sentenced to two years of probation and ordered to pay $10,000 in fines.

A Lake in the Hills man will not serve time in prison for his role in the 2006 death of his 3-month-old nephew, Daniel Marchan, according to the Northwest Herald.

Julian Palomo, 41, was sentenced to two years of probation and ordered to pay $10,000 in fines after he pleaded guilty in March to an involuntary manslaughter charge, according to the NW Herald.

Palomo was originally charged with aggravated battery for shaking the child but that charge was later upgraded to murder, according to the NW Herald article.

The Cook County Medical Examiner's office ruled Marchan's death a homicide after finding the baby died of blunt force trauma, according to the Northwest Herald.

The defense argued the child had previous medical problems. The baby's parents asked for Palomo to be sentenced to probation and said they were unaware at the time of their child's medical problems, according to the Northwest Herald.
