LITH Police Investigate Walgreens Armed Robbery
Man took cash and several packs of cigarettes from store.
The Lake in the Hills Police Department is investigating an armed robbery that occurred at a Walgreens late Friday.
A man with a shotgun wearing a ski mask entered Walgreens, 100 N. Randall Road, around 11:53 p.m. Friday and approached a clerk at the front of the store, said Sgt. Don Fowler of the Lake in the Hills Police Department. The man demanded cash and cigarettes and left with both.
The suspect never fired the gun and no one was injured in the incident, Fowler said.
As of late Saturday, LITH Police had made no arrests and the armed robbery remains under investigation.
The suspect is described as a white man, 5-feet 9-inches and 200 pounds. His vehicle is believed to be a white, 1980s four-door Chevrolet or Ford.
Fowler said it was unclear if the Walgreens robbery was connected to an armed robbery that occurred at a Huntley bank Saturday morning. A man, Christopher J. Olson of Huntley, was arrested for that robbery following a car chase.
In that robbery, Olson is accused of entering Harris Bank, 12920 Route 47 in Huntley, with a shotgun around 11 a.m. and demanding money from a teller, according to a Huntley Patch article. He fled in a 1992 Ford Tempo.
