It was a successful year for Algonquin's Turkey Trot — a Thanksgiving Day event that raises money for the Algonquin/Lake in the Hills Interfaith Food Pantry.

This year, 322 runners and walkers participated in the Turkey Trot 5K, which is up from 2011 when 280 participated in the 3.1-mile run/walk. In total, the event raised $2,255 for the food pantry and over 1,000 pounds of food, said Robin Platt, who is a volunteer with the food pantry, in an e-mail.

The run started at Life Time Fitness, 451 Rolls Road in Algonquin early Thanksgiving morning.
