It was standing-room only Friday night as the CLS Gators welcomed cross-town rivals, the CL Tigers to their field.

Tigers fan Michael Tunzi used a horn and Home Deport bucket (used as a drum) to pump up the Tigers' student section Friday night.

The weather was warm, the moon was full (although partly hidden behind the clouds), and the stands were packed with fans eager for a good Friday night football game.

The evening began with the sophomore squads from Crystal Lake South and Crystal Lake Central competing. The match was somewhat close, but the South Gators won by a score of 14-7.

Then, the big boys took to the Ken Bruhn Field.

Both teams had hundreds of fans, many painted green or orange from head to toe. Some onlookers were armed with horns, and others made noise the old-fashioned way- screaming and cheering.

The Crystal Lake South marching band, color guard and poms gave a great performance, even playing the Tigers school song in a good-will gesture to their cross-town rivals.

In the end, the Gators Varsity team ran away with the victory beating the Tigers 16 to 6.
