New Bike Map Details Trails in Algonquin

The interactive bike maps are available on the village of Algonquin website.

To help promote National Bike Month, village officials have released several new  communication tools to help bicyclists travel through Algonquin, according to a village of Algonquin news release.

The 2013 Algonquin Bike Route Map has been released featuring all the trails in Algonquin, parking, public restrooms, drinking fountains, bike parking and featured bike routes.  It is available online and in pamphlet form at village hall and the public works facility.

Additionally, several interactive maps are available for web and mobile users to navigate Algonquin.  A poster with quick-response, or QR, codes has been placed at the Prairie Trail kiosk on Main Street which provides users with distance and elevation data for bicycle routes, as well as local shop and restaurant locations.

“The interactive maps for bicyclists are a great technology application,” said Village President John Schmitt in a press release.  “Algonquin is a great destination for Prairie Trail users to stop for lunch or continue throughout the community on our local trail system.”

Additional information on bicycling in Algonquin, including the interactive maps, is available online.
