McSweeney Wins 52nd District Primary Race

Candidate David McSweeney comes out victorious with 40 percent of the vote.

David McSweeney plans to unify the Republican Party after his hard fought battle in the Republican Primary Tuesday night.

"I plan to fight for lower taxes and less spending," McSweeney said late Tuesday night in a phone interview with Cary Patch.

McSweeney said he has the support from his Republican challengers Danielle Rowe and Rep. Kent Gaffney, who was appointed to fill the remaining term of Mark Beaubien Jr., who died June 5, 2011.

"I'm very happy and excited to represent the people in the district," said McSweeney. He has already turned his focus to the general election by starting with unifying the Republican party.

The 52nd district has a wide reach, representing parts of Lake, Cook and Kane counties, which includes parts of Cary, Algonquin and Lake in the Hills.
