The Lake in the Hills Police Department will conduct a special enforcement campaign again on Superbowl Sunday on Feb. 3.
Increased enforcement efforts by the Lake in the Hills Police Department over the holidays resulted in several arrests and traffic stops.
In total, the LITH Police Department conducted 54 extra hours of enforcement patrols between Dec. 17 and Jan. 1, according to the LITH Police Department press release.
During those patrols, police arrested three motorists for driving under the influence, one for driving while license suspended or revoked, one for possession of marijuana and pulled over 54 other vehicles for various traffic violations, according to the news release.
The next enforcement campaign will be held on Superbowl Sunday on Feb. 3. LITH Police will up enforcement and will again be keeping an eye out for drunken drivers.
“The men and women of the Lake in the Hills Police Department will be out to stop anyone who decides to drink and drive” said James Wales, Director of Police and Public Safety.
The U.S. Department of and National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA), with the support from the National Football League (NFL) and Techniques for Effective Alcohol Management (TEAM) Coalition, have joined forces with local enforcement officials to promote safe driving on Superbowl Sunday.
“Driving while impaired could result in a loss of your driver’s license or even possibly the loss of your or someone else’s life," said Sgt. Eric Decker, supervisor of the Lake in the Hills Police Department traffic unit. "On Super Bowl Sunday, make it a team effort to keep ourselves and our loved ones safe. If you plan on driving, plan not to drink alcohol."
