LEAD 300 Approves Contract
The District 300 Board of Education is now expected to vote on the contract Thursday night in a special session.
Details surrounding a proposed three-year contract for District 300 teachers could soon be released.
LEAD 300, the district's teacher's union, voted Wednesday to ratify the contract, said Michael Williamson, spokesman for LEAD 300, in an e-mail Wednesday.
Next, the District 300 Board of Education is expected to vote on the contract Thursday at 6:30 p.m. in a special session at Westfield Community School in Algonquin.
District 300 and LEAD 300 officials have said details surrounding the contract would be released once both the district and the teacher's union had approved it.
The tentative contract was reached following a one-day strike earlier this month. Prior to the strike, the district and LEAD 300 spent months negotiating the terms of the contract. The two main sticking points for teachers leading up to the strike centered around salary and classroom size.
