Lake in the Hills Celebrates 60th Anniversary Thursday
In the past 60 years, Lake in the Hills has transformed from a quiet, rural community to a village of 28,975 today. The Lake in the Hills Historical Society provided Patch with photos that depict some of the village's history.
The village of Lake in the Hills has come a long way from its rural, quiet beginning.
Thursday marks the 60th anniversary of a village that was first built up around Woods Creek Lake in the 1920s, saw rapid expansion during the 1990s and continues to flourish today as a great place to live and raise a family.
To mark the occasion, the village of Lake in the Hills will host an open house at 9 a.m. Thursday at village hall, 600 Harvest Gate. There will be cake and coffee as well as a power point presentation with photos depicting the history of Lake in the Hills. A member from Lake in the Hills Historical Society will present and have additional historical items on display.
If you can't make the open house, several of the photos will be on display this week in the village hall lobby for residents to check out.
The Lake in the Hills Historical Society has provided Algonquin-Lake in the Hills Patch with some great historical photos of Lake in the Hills, which can be found in our photo gallery above today.
We greatly appreciates any additional photos showcasing the history of Lake in the Hills that residents post to our gallery.
