Joe Walsh to Seek Re-Election in 8th District
Congressman to focus on 8th District instead of the 14th.
Congressman Joe Walsh announced Thursday that he will be running for re-election in the 8th District.
According to a release sent out by Walsh, he believes that the "gerrymandered Democrat map will be overturned by the Federal Courts," and said that if the map stands, he will run for re-election in the new 8th district.
Walsh had initially indicated that he would run in the 14th district.
"After much soul searching and discussions with my wife Helene, friends and supporters, I am here tonight to announce that I will stand for re-election in the 8th district of Illinois," Walsh said. "During my short time in Congress, I have done everything I can to reverse the failed policies of Obama and Pelosi. I am running for re-election to fight for those in my district who feel like they are losing their country.
"This decision could not have been clearer for my family and me. This is the right move for us, and the right move for the people in the 8th district. I will continue to stand up for them in a city where far too often elected officials forget who elected them, and instead focus more on what they need to do to get re-elected. I have made it clear that I will only serve six years in the House, but during that time I will do everything in my power to bring the power back to the people who feel as though their country is being taken away from them."
Walsh had been rumored to be heading to the North Shore to try to make a run at the 14th District.
"While I was encouraged by the enthusiasm I received from folks all across the 14th District, I felt at this time, with this unjust map, I had to stand up and fight. The idea of ceding this seat to the Democrats just felt wrong and someone needed to step up to the challenge."
While his supporters will point out his numerous Town Hall meetings and his willingness to speak on the issues, Walsh has also been in the news lately for yelling at a constituent and because his ex-wife is accusing him of owing more than $100,000 in child support.

Hard believe that adult Americans that got beyond the third grade in school would support a morally bereft person like William "Call Me Joe" Walsh for ANY elective office...but then we're talking about the morally bereft RepubliKlan party that has kept the USA in the throes of economic meltdown engendered by their party's shining "stars," Henry Hyde, Ronald "The Great Bed Wetter" Reagan, and both Bush morons.

it's always comical to see somebody say something really clever like RepubliKlan party when the politician who most people associate with the actual Ku Klux Klan is a Democrat (Robert Byrd).
but facts never get in the way of the narrative.

Well, Actually the politician most associated with the KKK was Strom Thurmond, a Republican. Funny to hear a Republican even mention FACTS as they as so rarely associated with them.

That the best you got Matt? Attacking someone else when what is being said doesn't agree with your thinking. That's sad.

That's about ALL the RepubliKlan have - lies and innuendo - racist claptrap and rage about our Nation being led by a Black Man - and the usual dollops of gun-kissing and bible-banging.
Hard to reconcile all that with a deadbeat that ignores court ordered payments to an ex-wife for the maintenance of HIS OWN CHILDREN - or a candidate that was once the Speaker of the House of Representatives BUT WAS REMOVED FROM OFFICE FOR ETHICS VIOLATIONS ?
NAW - these are simple-minded REPUBLITARDS !!

Joe Walsh missed more votes in Congress than any of the 5 Illinois Republicon representatives. This is the job Joe needs, so he can finally pay his child support. You'd think a self-confident, self-motivated individual would show up for work on time.

William "Call Me Joe" Walsh is a member of the RepubliKlan TeaKlux caucus - he's incapable of telling the truth AND incapable, evidently, of living up to court orders.
I would hope his next address would be somewhere in Wisconsin - a nice studio apartment near the Koch Brothers HQ - the site of his job come December 2012.

Prolly not - "Call Me Joe" still owes the kid's Mom $117,000.00.

Still bitter about the 2010 landslide, eh? Yeah sure, your "party" is the paradigm of virtue; anyway, keep up the Occupy talking points and make sure to shower once in a while. With the name-calling style of your comments, I'd guess you're a community college kid on the 7 yr plan, living in your parents basement.
Hey, they want you out already!
Most of us vote for the individual, regardless of party.

Hey Jim Bob, ( btw nice redneck name ) you wanna see a landslide watch the 2012 elections. Even the ind, that voted red in 10 are sorry they did, so you'll see it going the other way in 12. Even a lot of Repubs will vote for President Obama.

"...even a lot of Repubs will vote for Obama"
sure. and a lot of pigressives will vote for Joe Walsh. just because you wish something, it doesn't make it so.
even Axelrod isn't that delusional. to the contrary, Obama got a bump in his approval ratings a couple of weeks ago, but that has reversed itself in the matter of weeks. (his numbers now stand at 41% for job approval) Unless he grants amnesty (and LEGAL voting) for 15,000,000 illegal immigrants or can figure out how to have Bin Laden killed again, Obama is toast.

I could be wrong, but I don't think so, Mr. Shedor. For a clue as to what might happen , keep your eyes on Wisconsin and the Snake Walker recall. I think that will reflect the mood of the nation.

Mitch Daniels, Paul Ryan, Chris Christie, Scott Walker....One of these guys will be President some day, carve it in stone.
2012- Repubs take the Senate, Romney the White House....Obamacare or it's key provisions go down, employment goes up, and the Cubs win the World Series, maybe.
Happy New Year to my liberal and conservative friends....

JB, there is a chance that with the new delegate rules in the GOP primaries that we will end up with a brokered convention. If people think that things are crazy right now with a different candidate leading the polls every other week, wait til we get to the convention and nobody has enough delegates to win, but enough delegates to influence a final decision... at that point, other names get thrown into the mix; and new candidates are introduced who everybody can be happy..scratch that. 'satisfied' with.
Mitch Daniels, Paul Ryan, Chris Christie, Scott Walker, Condi Rice, Jeb Bush.. yeah, Jeb Bush.. these are people who aren't running for president, but who might be our next president.
Would some of these people make pigressives' collective heads explode? you tell me. But the fact remains that this is a center right country. Obama has pulled us too far to the left (despite his populist tactics to spotlight himself as a centrist) and the natural tendency is that when we go too far to the left or the right, the next president elected tends to be one from the other side of the aisle.
I agree with your predictions on the Senate (there's a reason why Dem Senators are bailing like they're on the Titanic), the SC will take down Obamacare, employment has to go up..but the Cubs do not win the WS this year...but there is always next year, right?
