Hobby Lobby Slated to Open in March
Construction has been underway on the new building since fall.
Algonquin's new Hobby Lobby building that has been under development since fall, is scheduled to open in March.
"Progress is well underway," said Russ Farnum, community development director for the village. He added that although the company has a March turnover date, he would not be surprised if the opening was delayed.
The national chain of arts and crafts supplies will be located on Algonquin's south side in the Esplanade of Algonquin development.
The new, stand-alone building will be about 55,000 square feet, said Charles Smith, vice president of areté Knight, the architecture firm in Tinley Park that was hired to design the building.
The board gave its final approval for Hobby Lobby development in the Esplanade last March.

The developer for this property, George Venturella with Rotterdam Private Equities in Frankfort, has chosen to not pay our firm for engineering design related to street lighting on Esplanade Drive. Repeated calls and emails are ignored.
