Don't Forget About Today's Fall Cleanup
Residents are encouraged to take advantage of this free opportunity to recycle electronics. Beginning Jan. 1, state law will prohibit disposal of computers, monitors, printers and televisions in landfills.
The village of Algonquin and Waste Management are holding the first annual "Fall Cleanup and Recycling Drop-Off Event" today.
Algonquin residents with a valid ID can bring their unwanted household items to Presidential Park, 700 Highland Ave., today from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m.
Items to be discarded include:
- toys
- clothes
- couches
- beds
- dressers
- mattresses
- grills
- patio furniture
- electronics
- large cardboard boxes
- alkaline batteries
- cell phones
- clean metals
- wood
Items not accepted include:
- auto parts
- landscape waste
- white goods
- liquids/chemicals
- construction materials such as broken concrete and brick
Residents are required to unload their own vehicles into the appropriate dump area. Village staff will not be available to assist in lifting and carrying the drop-off items.
Additionally, truck from Purple Heart will be there to collect clothing and other various household items in good condition.

My husband dropped a bunch of stuff off this evening and said it was very well organized. Glad we saw this article this morning as we had several items that we needed to dispose of!
