River Arts Studio & Gallery, 121 Madison Street in Algonquin, is hosting a juried art show for Distict 300 middle and high school students.
Student work will be shown to their friends and family on selected days and to the public from 1 to 7 p.m. April 16 through 19 and the same hours again April 23 through 26.
On the opening day for each school there will be music, art demonstrations and prizes.
Selected winners will receive art supplies, free classes and award ribbons. There will also be a peoples choice award so the public has a chance to vote.
District 300, student artwork was previously shown at Springhill Mall in Dundee for the past several years, but was cancelled due to the lack of funding.
When Debbie Howard, owner and instructor at River Arts heard the news of the cancellation, she was greatly disappointed and contacted D300 school superintendent Michael Bregy and offered to host the show.
Prizes are being donated from Reprographics in Crystal Lake, Dick Blicks in Schaumburg and Artistic Framing & Supplies in Elgin.

Springhill Mall-funding? I thought the mall did that for the community and bringing in customers. A shame.
BRAVO to River Arts!
I hope they put out a donation jar at the store, or we all need to donate something to thank this business for giving back to the community.
( Thank you Reprographics/Dick Blicks and Artistic Framing too!)
