D300 School Board to Take Another Look at Budget Cuts

A final vote on the cuts is expected on Feb. 28.

The Community Unit School District 300 will meet Monday to discuss proposed budget cuts.

The first draft of proposed reductions, which listed $8.3 million in propsed cuts and requested union concessions on salary and benefits, was presented on Jan. 10. More information on that meeting and those proposals can be accessed here. The agenda for Monday's meeting is available here.

The school board will meet in the Professional Development Center at Westfield Community School, 2100 Sleepy Hollow Road in Algonquin, at 7:30 p.m. The board typically meets in the administration center's board room in Carpentersville but will be permanently moving it's board meetings to Westfield because it offers more space, according to a news release.

On Tuesday, the Community Finance Committee will meet at 7 p.m. in the board room at the District 300's Administrative Center, 300 E. Cleveland Ave., in Carpentersville, according to a news release. Ralph Martire, of the Center for Tax & Budget Accountability, will speak during the meeting and the committee will give its feedback on the proposal.

The public input period for the budget cuts will start Tuesday and continue through Feb. 28. Residents can e-mail their thoughts on the budget cuts to Board@d300.org during this time period and must include their full name and address. For more information on the public input period and future meetings, visit the District 300's budget reduction's website.
