Breakfast Online from Mimi's Cafe
Annie and Piper order their breakfast online and enjoy it at home.
Yesterday morning I realized I let the entire weekend go by without going out to eat. It was a busy weekend full of cheerleading, grocery shopping, getting the kids ready for another school week and adopting a puppy from a pet rescue.
As I was getting my youngest child, Piper, ready for her first day of preschool yesterday, I decided it was time for me to give another try.
Several years ago we had a bad dining experience at . Our waitress was rude, my food was never delivered to our table, and when we finally received our bill, after waiting for more than 30 minutes to get it, it was completely wrong and we were overcharged for our meal.

I wanted to give another try before writing them off completely.
I decided to try something new yesterday. Instead of dining out at , I decided to try ordering our breakfast online and picking it up.

Ordering online took just a few minutes and was very simple. I went to www.mimiscafe.com and clicked on the “order online” link. I then put in my ZIP code and clicked on the “order here” box that showed up under the map of local restaurants. That opened a new webpage with a menu. I placed my order with a 10:20 a.m. pickup and off we went to school.
Piper and I showed up at , 2561 N. County Line Road (in the Algonquin Commons parking lot), at 10:20 a.m. on the dot and parked in one of the parking spots reserved for take-out orders. The to-go counter is just past the hostess podium in the restaurant’s foyer.
Our order was ready when we arrived and still warm when we made it home about 10 minutes later.
My husband and I split the Ciabatta breakfast sandwich — eggs, grilled ham, bacon, garlic spinach, tomato, cheddar cheese and citrus remoulade on Ciabatta bread. Our breakfast sandwich was served with red skinned potatoes.
The sandwich was really quite tasty and the potatoes were still warm. Piper had a chocolate mousse muffin and an order of bacon. She said the muffin was “amazing” and the bacon was “super great!”
We really enjoyed our breakfast and I am glad I gave a second chance. I think, one day in the near future, Piper and I are going to go back and have lunch on the little patio out front of Mimi’s Cafe.
