Algonquin Village Board Notes

The Algonquin Village Board and Algonquin Special Liquor Commission met Tuesday at Algonquin Village Hall, 2200 Harnish Drive.

The Algonquin Village Board and the Algonquin Special Liquor Commission met Tuesday.

Here is a roundup of what was discussed.

  • The Algonquin Special Liquor Commission OK'd a liquor license Tuesday evening for Theresa and Mariano Scandurra, owners of La Trattoria, which plans to move to Algonquin Commons. The Italian restaurant formerly had been located in a strip mall at Lakewood and Ackman roads in Lake in the Hills. It plans to move to 1748 S. Randall Road, Algonquin.
  • The Algonquin Village Board voted 6-0 to approve the 2012-13 village budget.
  • Village President John Schmitt presented Village Manager William Ganek with a plaque to recognize that, as of this month, Ganek has been working as the village manager for 20 years in Algonquin. He credited Ganek with successfully handling extreme residential and commercial growth in the area during the past two decades and for having a balanced budget every year. Ganek expressed gratitude for the recognition. "I have the best staff and best community a village manager can have. And the best elected officials," said Ganek during Tuesday's meeting.
  • Rainbow Restaurant is expected to open soon at 1229 S. Main St. The restaurant will undergo its final inspection next week.
