Volunteers working on the annual Making Strides Against Breast Cancer, will host a kick-off event on Thursday, June 14 from 6-8 pm at Charming Charlies (in the Algonquin Commons, 2120 South Randall Road). Guests are invited to attend to learn more about Making Strides and how they can be take part. In addition, Charming Charlies is donating 10% of all purchases made during this time to Making Strides Against Breast Cancer McHenry.

“There is so much we can do for our neighbors, families, and companies through Making Strides Against Breast Cancer. Anyone can get involved and help our community fight back against breast cancer,” said Mike Jostes, Making Strides Event Manager. The 5K non-competitive walk will be held on Saturday, August 4 at Ted Spella Park, Algonquin. Teams of walkers will complete the 5K course and take part in activities before/after the walk.

“The American Cancer Society uses the funds raised through Making Strides to fund research leading to the discovery of lifesaving treatments, advocate for all women to have access to mammograms and treatments – regardless of income – and to provide free programs and services that improve the quality of life for cancer patients and their families,” said Jostes.
