Armed Forces Day at RMU

ROBERT MORRIS UNIVERSITY HOLDS

ARMED FORCES DAY CELEBRATION

Post 9/11 Veterans Offered Tuition-Free Benefits

Robert Morris University is holding a special Armed Forces Day Celebration on Thursday, May 19 from 5 to 7:30 p.m. at its Lake County Campus, 1507 Waukegan Road in Waukegan. Post 9/11 veterans and their families are invited to the event which includes food, refreshments and information on the college benefits package available to veterans and their spouses. (RSVP to 847-578-6000 by May 16.)

The Guide to Military Friendly Schools includes Robert Morris University as a top school for veterans.  “We have included additional grants on top of the government’s benefits,” explained Patricia Alves, director of Admissions at the RMU Lake County campus.  “RMU will cover remaining tuition and fees, allowing military veterans to earn a degree at no cost.”

A number of veterans have found the programs at RMU and the tuition benefits to be the best way to complete their degrees.  Christopher Fisco is a current business administration student at the Lake County campus.  He joined the Army in 2006 and spent thirteen months in Iraq. He responded to information from RMU that outlined the military benefits and was accepted soon after applying.  “I started at RMU in the fall and plan to get bachelor’s degree with a concentration in Accounting,” he said.  “I’m very happy at RMU.  The teachers are great and the classes are challenging.”

Chris adds that other veterans and their families should consider RMU:  “If you want a challenge, want to earn a degree quickly, if you like hands-on classes and you want to meet with your instructors face to face, then this is the place to go!”

Edward Price, from Chicago, is stationed at Great Lakes until March of 2013, and is looking to attend Officer Training School.  He also started in September and wants to complete his studies in Computer Science.  “I was very impressed with the computer lab and liked the idea of having a number of campuses with the main campus in Chicago.”

Edward likes the accelerated pace of the program, that he can earn his degree faster by going to school all year ‘round and feels it works well with the military lifestyle.  He hopes to continue through to graduate school. “RMU has a good atmosphere, faculty and instructors who work with you.  You should be prepared to work because in the long run, it pays off.”

RMU offers a number of programs in business administration, media technology, art and design, nursing and health studies, culinary arts and graduate studies through the Morris Graduate School of Management.  Additional information is available through the RMU website, www.robertmorris.edu, or by calling 800-762-5960.  Admissions counselors who are specifically trained in military benefits can assist students through the process.

Robert Morris University Illinois is a not-for-profit, baccalaureate and graduate degree granting institution, serving over 7000 students interested in getting an education in business, graphic arts, nursing and health care, culinary and computer studies at its main campus in Chicago, as well as at locations in DuPage, Elgin, Orland Park, Bensenville, Springfield, Peoria, Schaumburg and Lake County.  For more information, call 800-762-5960 or visit the web site at www.robertmorris.edu
