Aldens Doggy Day Camp offers fun and learning for area pets
As summer approaches it’s time to start thinking about sending the little ones to day camp where they’ll have fun while you can get some work done. Wouldn’t it be nice if you could send the dog to day camp, too? Actually, you can.
Aldens Kennels, 6810 Barnard Mill Road, Ringwood, offers a day camp that is more than merely a chance to get the dog out from under foot for a few days; it’s also a chance for your dog to learn a little obedience.
Darius Kidd, one of the certified expert trainers at Aldens, said day camp makes for a busy day for dogs.
“We take the dogs out of their runs for 15 to 30 minutes of training and the same amount of playtime,” Kidd said. “Then they’re back in their runs for about an hour before we bring them out again for some more training and playtime.”
When asked how many times they repeat this process, Kidd said, “However many times I can fit them in a day.”
Kidd said the program is based on providing basic obedience training. How much the dog learns depends on the dog.
“We go at the dog’s pace,” he said. “It’s not like the dog has to learn a certain amount each day. The guarantee is that the dog will learn something.”
Kidd said the dogs also enjoy the program, which has an attractive price for dog owners.
